I'm cautiously optimistic that the nation will eventually pivot in the right direction. It has been disorienting and frightening how quickly it pivoted in the wrong direction in such a short time frame and relatively little resistance.
I caught a news clip from Rachel Maddow yesterday. US Veterans held protests at the National Mall, 16 state capitol buildings and over 100 other venues across 43 states. Banners over bridges said "Honor D-Day, Fight Fascism at home."
I believe we can choose to pivot toward each other. It will take humility and courage to unite against the common foe - division by party. We need to meet in the middle and start listening to each other. There is common ground to be found.
I just read the NYT article. Very comprehensive. I agree that the MAGA folks are waking up. The challenge for me personally is to not play the "I told you so" card. I have friends who put party over politics voting for Trump both times. I want to leave the door open for those who told me to get over it because the Democrats lost. Our country needs to put integrity first, not politics. This is our pivot moment.
