Hope came in the form of gardening this past week. The witnessing of rain and warmth growing the green and blossoms around the place where I live, lightens the load of wars and politics. And spring is a time of birth and rebirth, of new beginnings.
I want to believe that a lot of the world is experiencing spring as a time for new beginnings -- I appreciated your notes on Hungary and Vilnius, Lithuania. And the special elections here in the US are heartening. I'm carrying a lot of hope for the midterms.
Here's to dignity and hope, to remembered beauty and reclaimed peace. . . all an ongoing process these days.
Gardens keep us tethered to the earth and bring much joy. This week's news is full of pushback against our despots. A line has been crossed. We just have to keep the momentum going. That gives me hope.
Gotta find joy where we can, and not turn away from the work at hand. I stand with you and will do muy best to keep momentum going. Sending you big hugs and all good wishes.
Being a historian who is grounded in the present does give me a wide lens. The children are our future. The deserve our encouragment to grow into who they strive to me.

Wide lens, long timing...
Defeatism de-fied/bunked?
Here’s dignified hope!

I think that this was a candid, beautiful post, Judith. Thank you.
Right with you!
