🗓️ December’s Daily Delights
Kicking Off the Countdown
We have reached the last month of 2025. Retailers have caught on to the idea of the non-denominational Advent Calendar, which gives children
and adults
an entertaining, treat-infused way to count down to the magical day when Santa arrives.
Speaking of Santa, St. Nicholas lost most of his strictly religious status around the 1800’s when he signed over to become the premier retail marketing guy, creating numerous jobs for portly men across the world. Nevertheless, the Spirit of Christmas maintains strong religious and retail roots, often visible in pop-up Christmas Villages across the world featuring local vendors. Maybe some of you have enjoyed sipping and shopping in one!
In the spirit of inclusiveness, I started looking up December holidays but was quickly overwhelmed. I decided to take the focus off the more personal religious holidays and stick to the secular and fun for now. Here is the list for the first week of December:

Old Major Bar recently held a successful sip and shop Small Business Saturday on November 29th. My daughter sold plants while I signed and sold my book. It was a delightful event because vendors and shoppers were part of the PigTown Community.
Sometimes “small” is the antidote to the Global Existential Crisis. I’m not going to define what that means, but most of us can sense its foreboding and will approach the concept from different perspectives. Others will say nothing has changed and wonder what I am talking about.
Rest assured, good readers, I will take the rest of this year to breathe, relax, and write. Stay tuned for next week’s list of secular holidays and look forward to reading more about Lithuanian pagan holiday traditions!
Don’t forget, December is also National Tie Month. Check it out and tie one on.
